Physicochemical properties: colorless or lemon yellow crystal. It is hygroscopic. Sensitive to light. Soluble in ethanol, methanol and chloroform, slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethyl acetate, ether and acetone. The reduction potential is about -0.08 v. Dark blue dimethyl pigment (diformazan pigmentent) is produced when reducing agent is present. Melting point 245-247 ℃ (decomposition).
