Physicochemical properties: light brownish red or reddish brown powder microcrystal, a natural stain extracted from bryophytes. 14 kinds of dyes can be separated by chromatography, the main components of which are the above 8 kinds, and the structures of the other 6 kinds of small amounts are still unclear. It is red in ethanol, acetone and acetic acid, light blue and purple in dilute alkaline solution, and almost insoluble in water, ether, chloroform, benzene and carbon disulfide. The maximum absorption wavelength is 579 nm.
