Purpose: biochemical research. Polymyxin B is a polypeptide antibiotic against gram-negative bacilli, which can change the membrane structure to leak small molecules and inhibit the growth of gram-negative bacilli. It has bactericidal effect on Escherichia coli. Lipid a part bound to bacterial lipopolysaccharides. Induce pinholes in the outer skin cell membrane. Mode of action: binding and interfering with the permeability of the plasma membrane. Antibacterial spectrum: gram negative bacteria.
