Physicochemical properties: white acicular crystal or crystalline powder, odorless and slightly sour. Soluble in 15.5 parts of water at 12 ℃, slightly soluble in 95% ethanol, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, ether and acetone, without any toxic and side effects. Insoluble in absolute ethanol. Decompose at about 300 ℃. Irritating. Taurine is a non protein amino acid, which widely exists in organisms. It was first found in the bile of male cattle. Taurine cannot combine with other amino acids to form proteins, but exists in free form or forms complexes with bile acids
