Physicochemical properties: reddish brown or brownish red crystalline powder. Soluble in chloroform and dimethyl sulfoxide, soluble in ethyl acetate, methanol and tetrahydrofuran, propanol and carbon tetrachloride. The dry powder can be stable for more than 5 years, slightly soluble in water, and its aqueous solution fails at room temperature for 10h, but the addition of reducing agents (such as anti cyclic hematic acid) can reduce decomposition, and it is extremely stable in dimethyl sulfoxide
Purpose: biochemical research. It has strong bactericidal effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria, gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Inhibit DNA recombination and protein insertion into mature virus particles. By binding RNA polymerase β- Subunit inhibits the initiation of RNA synthesis.
