Physicochemical properties: white or light yellow powder. It has wettability and is stable to chemicals, heat and light. Odorless and tasteless. CMC is a polymer prepared by Carboxymethylation of cellulose. Pure carboxymethyl cellulose has no practical value. Its sodium salt is actually used.
Purpose: Biochemical research. The biggest use is to prepare soap and synthetic detergent. About 1% CMC is added to the heavy-duty detergent to prevent the washed dirt from precipitating on the fabric.Secondly, it is used as a suspension stabilizer for drilling mud in the petroleum industry. As an additive in paper industry, it can improve the longitudinal strength and smoothness of paper. It can improve the printing adaptability of paper, and can be used as thickening agent, emulsion stabilizer and ice crystal inhibitor in food industry.Used as thickener of sizing agent and printing and dyeing pulp in textile industry; It can be used as emulsion stabilizer for injection, binder and film-forming agent for tablet in pharmaceutical industry; In cosmetics, ceramics, etc.
