Physicochemical properties : white or quasi white particles or powder, easily soluble in water and hot ethanol, slightly soluble in cold ethanol, insoluble in ether and benzene. Unstable in case of water or heat. Odorless and tasteless.

Purpose: biochemical research. It inactivates nucleoside reductase by forming free nitric oxide and binding to tyrosine at the active site of the enzyme. This hinders the synthesis of deoxynucleotides
