Physicochemical Properties: colorless transparent crystal or white crystalline powder. Odorless. Slightly sweet and astringent. 1g is dissolved in 7.2ml water and 0.3ml boiling water. Soluble in glycerol, insoluble in ethanol, the aqueous solution is acidic, and the pH of 0.2mol/l aqueous solution is 3.3. Unstable at room temperature. When placed at 60 ~ 65 ℃ for a long time (or in sulfuric acid dryer), 9 molecules of crystal water will be lost, and water will be reabsorbed when exposed to air. It becomes anhydrous at about 200 ℃. At higher temperatures, sulfur trioxide is released and is not completely soluble in water. The relative density is 1.725. Melting point 92.5 ℃. Irritating.
Purpose: biochemical research. Metallographic analysis and determination of iron, manganese, antimony and aluminum in metallurgy. Mordant. Bacterial staining. Clarifier. Hardener in microscopy
