Physicochemical properties : colorless or white crystal, particle or powder. Odorless. It tastes bitter. Hard quality. Stable in air. 1g soluble in 8.3ml water, 4ml boiling water, 75ml glycerol, insoluble in ethanol. Potassium chloride and ammonium sulfate can increase the solubility in water, but they are almost insoluble in the saturated solution of ammonium sulfate. The aqueous solution is neutral, and the pH is about 7. The relative density is 2.66. Melting point 1067 ℃.
Purpose: biochemical research. Biochemical test of serum protein. Catalyst for Kjeldahl nitrogen determination. Prepare other potassium salts.
