Other names: dimethyl sulfoxide; Methylidene maple; Sulfinyl dimethyl
CAS No.: 67-68-5
C2H6OS=78.13
Grade: AR
Content: ≥ 99.0%
Density (20 ℃): 1.098 ~ 1.106g/ml
Refractive index (n20d): 1.478 ~ 1.480
Crystallization point: 18 ~ 20 ℃
Moisture: ≤ 0.2%
Physicochemical properties: colorless transparent liquid. No smell. Slightly bitter. It has strong polarity and moisture absorption (at 20 ℃, when the relative humidity is 60%, it can absorb 70% of its own weight). It is very stable under normal conditions, but it decomposes when the boiling point (189 ℃) is refluxed and boiled for a long time; Acid can promote this decomposition, while alkali can inhibit this decomposition. It can form stable coordination compounds with metals. Dimethyl sulfoxide reacts violently with chlorine at room temperature. Soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, ether, benzene and chloroform, insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons except acetylene. It can dissolve ethylene oxide, benzoic acid, camphor, sugar, oil, etc., as well as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, calcium chloride and sodium nitrate. The melting point is 18.45 ℃.
Purpose: biochemical research. The lower hydrocarbon isomers were separated and analyzed by gas chromatography fixed liquid (the maximum operating temperature was 30 ℃, and the solvent was acetone). Solvent for ultraviolet spectrum analysis, solvent for acetylene, sulfur dioxide and other gases, solvent for polymerization and spinning of synthetic fibers, pesticide solvent. Extractant. Reactive dye stabilizer. Preservation of body tissues and protection against radiation burns. Organic synthesis
