Purpose: biochemical research. Menthol is a terpene, which is the main component of peppermint and peppermint essential oil, and exists in the state of free and ester. Menthol can be divided into three optical isomers, namely l-menthol with left-handed optical properties, d-menthol with right-handed optical properties and DL menthol without optical properties, also known as racemic menthol. Among them, the pure natural l-menthol, also known as l-menthol, has the best coolness and aroma quality. L-menthol has mint aroma and cooling effect, racemic menthol also has cooling effect, and other isomers have no cooling effect
