Physicochemical properties (the following information is for reference only): colorless monoclinic prismatic crystal or off white to yellow, brown or grayish green powder. Odorless. It tastes tasteless at first and then burns. 1g is dissolved in 15ml ethanol, 1.7ml chloroform and 36ml ether. Soluble in benzene and acetic acid, almost insoluble in water (40mg/l at 18 ℃) and petroleum ether. Neutral to litmus. The relative density is 1.193.
