Properties (the following information is for reference only): white to grayish white fibrous powder or particles. Soluble in water, insoluble in hot water, soluble in DMF, DMSO, hot ethylene glycol and pyridine, insoluble in absolute ethanol, diethyl ether and chloroform. The aqueous solution has surface activity, and after drying, it forms a thin film. After heating and cooling, it can undergo reversible transformation from sol to gel. Density: 1.39
