Physicochemical properties: dark purple powder. HNB is a metal indicator of calcium and a colorimetric reagent for alkaline earth metal ions, rare earth metal ions and uranium ions. HNB is easily soluble in water and ethanol. The aqueous solution of HNB is blue at pH 7-12, red at pH > 13, and pink at pH 10 in the presence of calcium ions. The detection range of alkaline earth metal ions and rare earth metal ions is 1-600 ppm and 1-300 ppm, respectively. The maximum wavelength of the complex is 650 nm. HNB was also used for the detection of UO2 (II).
Purpose: biochemical research. Metal titration indicator, used for the detection of alkaline earth metal ions and rare earth metal ions
