Physical and chemical properties: insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in xylene, tetralin and nitrobenzene. It is blue-green in concentrated sulfuric acid and blue after dilution, and blue precipitate is generated. It is yellow in the alkaline solution of sodium sulfate and light yellow in the acidic solution.

Purpose: biochemical research. It can be used for dyeing and printing of cotton fabrics, as oil paint and for coloring of plastics.
