Physicochemical Properties: reddish brown long flake crystal or black powder. Sensitive to light. It is brown under transmitted light and steel blue under reflected light. It is easily soluble in dilute ammonia water, soluble in sodium hydroxide solution to produce heme, soluble in strong organic bases (such as trimethylamine and xylene amine) and acetic acid, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and lose iron, slightly soluble in 70% - 80% ethanol, almost insoluble in carbonate solution, dilute acid and water, and stable in water. Caking at 240 ℃ and not melting at 300 ℃.
