Purpose: biochemical research. It can inhibit DNA polymerase, interfere with the incorporation of nucleotides into DNA, inhibit nucleotide reductase, and block the reduction of cytosine nucleotides to deoxycytosine nucleotides, but has no significant effect on the synthesis of RNA and protein. Ara-C inserts DNA and inhibits DNA replication by forming a complex with topoisomerase I, resulting in DNA cleavage. Unable to inhibit RNA synthesis.
