Purpose: biochemical research. DAPI staining solution is a staining solution suitable for the staining of nuclei of all common cells and tissues. It can be directly used for nuclear staining of fixed cells or tissues. DAPI is a blue fluorescent dye that can penetrate cell membranes. After binding with double stranded DNA, it can produce fluorescence more than 20 times stronger than DAPI itself. Compared with EB (ethidium bromide), the staining sensitivity for double stranded DNA is many times higher. DAPI staining is often used to detect apoptosis. After staining, it is observed by fluorescence microscope or detected by flow cytometry. DAPI is also commonly used for common nuclear staining and double stranded DNA staining in some specific cases.
