Use: biochemical research. This product is an anti gout drug.

Pharmacological action: This product is a drug that inhibits the synthesis of uric acid. Allopurinol and its metabolite oxypurinol can inhibit xanthine oxidase, prevent hypoxanthine and xanthine from being metabolized into uric acid, thereby reducing the production of uric acid. It can reduce the uric acid content in blood and urine to below the solubility level, prevent uric acid from forming crystals and depositing in joints and other tissues, and also help to re dissolve uric acid crystals in tissues of gout patients. Allopurinol also inhibits the synthesis of new purines in vivo by acting on hypoxanthine guanine phosphonuclease.
